ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur invites applications from eligible postgraduate students for Dissertation / Internship Training for a period of 2 months & 6 months. This program provides structured research exposure in the field of Non-Communicable Diseases, Public Health, Epidemiology, Implementation Research, Biostatistics, Laboratory Sciences, Nutrition, Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Biomedical Research.
About Institute
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), located in Jodhpur, was originally established on 27 June 1984 as the Desert Medicine Research Centre (DMRC). It was later renamed the National Institute for Implementation Research on Non-Communicable Diseases (NIIRNCD) on 7 December 2019, and redesignated as NIHR on 29 April 2026.
The Institute houses state-of-the-art facilities for conducting basic laboratory-based research in Biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry, and Virology. It is also actively strengthening its capacity and workforce to advance implementation research in non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Eligibility & Programme Details
6-Month Programme
Final semester Postgraduate students (M.Sc., MPH, M.Tech, etc.) from recognized Universities/Colleges/Institutes in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Public Health & Allied Subjects or any other relevant field.
2-Month Programme
Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Public Health & Allied Subjects or any other relevant field from any recognized institute.

Application Process
- 1. Interested candidates are required to submit the application form. There is no application fee for submitting the application form.

2. The candidate must submit the duly filled application Form attested and endorsed by the Head of the Institution/Department.

3. Along with the application form, applicants must include:
- A brief Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A mandatory 500-word Statement of Purpose (SOP) indicating research interest and motivation.
- 4. Detailed information regarding application timelines, submission deadlines, selection process, and commencement dates will be notified through the Advertisement/Notification of the respective session.

General Terms & Conditions
- 1. Each selected student will be assigned a mentor and shall work exclusively under the guidance of the assigned mentor.
- 2. A minimum of 80% attendance is mandatory for the successful completion of the program.
- 3. The number of seats may be increased or decreased at any moment by the approval of the competent Authority.
- 4. Candidates are encouraged to prepare and publish manuscripts with the assistance and guidance of their assigned mentors only.
- 5. Each selected candidate will be required to present one paper every week as per the Journal Club schedule.
- 6. A weekly lecture series will be conducted by an ICMR Scientist as part of the academic program.
- 7. Students must strictly adhere to all laboratory rules, regulations, working hours, and safety protocols.

- 8. Hostel and guest house facilities are not available at present. The selected candidates must make their own accommodation arrangements.
- 9. Students are required to present their research work and submit a dissertation/internship report at the end of the training.
- 10. No financial support, stipend, hostel, boarding, or lodging facilities will be provided.
- 11. ICMR–NIHR reserves the right to terminate the engagement of any student at any stage in case of non-compliance.
- 12. Canvassing in any form and at any stage will lead to the direct disqualification of the candidate.
